NO TIME/NO MOJO??

Aug 03, 2021

I met a woman last week in line at the grocery store. We struck up a conversation when she asked me about the gluten-free pretzels I had in my cart. Because I’m not one to shy away from a good conversation, I told her all about how they’re used as part of a healthy family-favorite recipe that I then shared with her.

Right there in line, she opened up to me about how she felt like she didn’t have the time to eat well and lacked motivation to move her body but knew she needed to.

She shared with me how she felt overwhelmed thinking about actually putting those into practice, so it was just easier not to.

I hear this cry of frustration from so many women. A lack of time and motivation can derail our determination and wipe out our will power. I truly think that a lack of motivation stems from the overwhelming false belief that achieving your wellness goals takes hours and hours every day, time that you simply don’t have.

If you hold to this belief, then it seems like small efforts don’t matter, so why even start?

As we crept closer to the cashier, I shared with her — like I'm sharing with you now — that the antidote to a lack of motivation and perceived lack of time is this: Start with small, doable habits and stack them one upon the next.

That’s it.

Small habits add up to big change. You just have to focus on the next choice. Don’t look at the big picture. Narrow your focus to just what’s next.

In truth, it’s the little daily things that we do over a long period of time, for a lifetime, that lead to our healthiest selves. Seemingly small and insignificant healthy habits DO build up over time and lead to big shifts and results. Even though we may not notice when we’re walking through the often mundane process, adding small habits together does the trick.

When it comes to our wellness goals, we tend to complicate things, or go “too hard, too fast.” In a technologically advanced world where we can demand instant results in so many areas, we seek instant gratification with our health and fitness too. We grossly underestimate the power of consistency. If we don’t meet our goals in a certain amount of time, we become disappointed and quit.

Haven’t we all been there??

Today, I encourage you to begin stacking habits, starting with these two:

Morning Lemon Water: Pour yourself 16 oz. of room temperature, purified water with ½ lemon squeezed in. Lemon juice helps the liver do its job of detoxification. It also balances the body’s pH and stimulates the bowel. Consider this a morning reboot, enabling the body to remove toxins and begin each day with a cleaner slate.

Eat A Protein Rich Breakfast: Start your day with balanced blood sugar, and all the nutrients you need to function fabulously. Aim for 30 grams of clean, animal protein at your first meal of the day. Cravings will decrease, metabolism will elevate, energy will explode, and brain fog will disappear.

Even if you don’t see the fruits of your labor YET, your body is changing.

Progress is being made.

Results are coming.

Keep stacking habits.

One good habit will propel you to the next…and the next…and the next…

So, just like I told my new checkout-line-friend, just start with one change. You can do this! I’m cheering you on!
