Is This Your Season of Change?

Oct 24, 2021

It’s officially autumn, and I couldn’t be happier living in this season… The pumpkins, the sweaters, the bonfires, the hot chocolate… What could be better? It’s definitely my favorite… How about you?

Seasons are certainly an important part of life and each one teaches us so much in its’ own unique way. At the same time, seasons of change can be difficult. It’s hard to change! Our brains are wired for safety, so even the healthiest changes can seem a bit…well….scary.

Today I’m going to share with you “Four Fallacies That Hinder Health Goals” so that you can avoid these and embrace your season of change with open arms. The four fallacies are:

  1. If I don’t see results right away, the plan is not working and I should move on to the next.

  2. My bestie lost a ton of weight on the “XYZ Plan” so surely I will too!

  3. I’m not really clear on why I want to improve my health and wellness… It just seems like the thing to do… I’m sure I can get healthier without really thinking about the reason why…

  4. I’m a terrible sleeper, I’m stressed out, and my stomach hurts all the time, but if I just focus on eating clean and working out harder, I should definitely lose weight, right?

OK ladies, let’s dive in to these fallacies because these are common pitfalls that I see with many clients!

  1. Taking a short game approach and wanting instant gratification when embarking upon a health and wellness goal is almost always a formula for disaster. Our bodies don’t care about our timelines. Sometimes there’s deep healing work that needs to be done on the inside before change can ever manifest on the outside. A long game approach works best.

  2. We are all extremely unique. What works for one person will not necessarily work for another. We each have different challenges, strengths, microbiomes, genes, life circumstances, and body chemistries. Bioindividuality is key… There is no one size fits all.

  3. Not fully understanding your “why“ can be problematic when trying to achieve success. Without knowing what’s driving you, it will be easy to revert to old habits when the going gets tough. Know your reason why, write it down, and revisit it often.

  4. While proper nutrition and regular exercise are non-negotiables in regards to a healthy lifestyle, there are other factors that weigh in heavily as well: sleep, stress, toxic exposure, gut microbiome, relationships, and spirituality all have a huge impact on our ability to achieve a desired goal.

If you are embarking upon a season of change, beware of these four fallacies, face them head-on, and you are sure to be successful. As always, I’m cheering for you!
