BYE-BYE BLOAT!
Jan 17, 2022Hiya!
Remember last week’s blog? Did you try my MORNING GLORY SMOOTHIE? I hope you did, and I hope you loved it, too! One of the best things about that smoothie is the truckload of nutrients it can deliver to every cell in your body….provided you have a robust and well functioning digestive system.
Proper digestion is LIFE. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is for your body to break down and absorb nutrients. Without this function, our entire system is deprived of critical nutrition, which is a barrier to weight/fat loss and an instigator of all disease.
You’ve certainly heard the saying, “You are what you eat,” but that’s only partially true. A better statement is:
“You are what you digest and absorb.”
Today I want to give you some simple tips that will improve your digestion and help your body utilize the nutrients from the food you eat. Ready? Here ya go:
Before your meal:
-
Be calm, eliminate stressful situations. Being in “fight or flight” completely prohibits healthy digestion.
-
Put a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into a cup of water and drink.
-
Consider taking digestive enzymes to assist the breakdown of food into accessible nutrients.
During your meal:
-
Say a prayer or word of gratitude to help calm your body and prepare it to receive food.
-
Do not rush.
-
Chew, chew, chew. 20-30 times with each bite. Digestive juices only work on the surface area of food pieces. Breaking the pieces up in the mouth as small as possible will facilitate better digestion.
-
Set your fork down between each bite.
After your meal:
-
Wait at least one hour before intense physical activity.
-
Do not return to anything stressful.
-
Not symptoms that occur by journaling how you feel post meal.
I’ve worked with many women who, after implementing these simple, doable tasks at mealtime, are blown away by the results. They are able to get rid of gas and bloating, intestinal pain, loose stools, and reflux. They begin to have more energy, mental clarity, and even better skin! This means that their bodies are actually digesting and using the nutrients from the food they eat…amazing, huh??
Have a great week, give these tips a try, and let me know how it goes!
