ANATOMY OF MY SMOOTHIE
Jan 09, 2022Hiya!
Last week, we talked about “clearing the muddy waters.” Have you begun that process? How’s it going?
Now, if you’ve removed some of those non-negotiables, you might be wondering what the heck to eat….and if you know me, you know I love my morning green smoothie. I love that my smoothie is fast & easy to make; it’s chock-full of anti-inflammatory ingredients; it keeps me full for hours, and it’s freaking delicious!!
I’ve been blending this smoothie for years…not because smoothies are trendy, but because I crave a massive infusion of vitamins, minerals, and gut/immune support in my first meal of the day. I want my blood sugar balanced, I want loads of energy, and I want to be alert…so that I can be on the tip-top of my game for my clients.
If you don’t know about my smoothie, here’s the deets:
For starters, my smoothie has all four components of what I call a ‘balanced meal’: GREENS, FAT, FIBER, & PROTEIN.
We need each of these elements in order to give our bodies what’s required to flourish until our next meal. Our cells, our microbiome, our brains, and our muscles need greens, fat, fiber, and protein. Here’s how I add each of these components to my smoothie:
GREENS: organic spinach, kale, or a mixture of both
FAT: organic avocado and a splash of full fat coconut milk
FIBER: organic ground flaxseed & frozen cherries or cranberries
PROTEIN: organic, grass-fed, non-denatured whey or paleo protein powder
Now, that’s just the basic recipe….but I take this super smoothie to a
whole. other. level.
Check this out:
To my base recipe, I add the following:
-
Organic grated lemon peel
-
Organic matcha powder
-
Organic pomegranate powder
-
Organic colostrum
Here’s why:
-
Spinach & Kale: nutrient/vitamin dense; liver support; detoxification
-
Avocado/Coconut milk: helps absorb other nutrients; supports brain function; balances blood sugar; anti-inflammatory
-
Flaxseed: fiber rich to promote regularity; balances blood sugar; anti-oxidant rich; anti-inflammatory
-
Cherries/Cranberries/Pomegranate: antioxidant rich; feeds beneficial gut bacteria to support immune health; fiber rich
-
Whey Protein: Massive source of the mother of all antioxidants: glutathione; builder/repairer of tissues
-
Lemon Peel: supports liver detoxification enzymes
-
Matcha: clears toxins from the body
-
Colostrum: greatly supports immune health and the digestive system
Can you imagine a more intentional brekky? Are you convinced enough to give my smoothie a try?
